We can all do with some help from time to time…

In 2 Corinthians 8:13-15, Paul wrote,

“For this is not for the relief of others and for your hardship, but by way of equality—at this present time your abundance will serve as assistance for their need, so that their abundance also may serve as assistance for your need, so that there may be equality; as it is written: ‘The one who had gathered much did not have too much, and the one who had gathered little did not have too little.'” (NASB)

Helping others keeps our focus outward rather than on our own needs. It allows us to sow joyfully and generously and see the fruit of righteousness flourish (2 Corinthians 9:7+10).

Helping you in mission (or anything else) shouldn’t just come from us, but also from one another, wherever we can. We’re family, and when one suffers, we all suffer (1 Corinthians 12:26). And so, when one asks in humility, others can offer in humility, and together we can serve one another to build up the Body of Christ. One person’s need is another’s opportunity!

When the need is shared, help if you can. We can all pray, whether in need or in abundance, so let us “consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24). And, as the writer also says, “…do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:16).
